Men’s Health Week is here!
Men’s Health Week (June 9–15) is a national movement to spotlight the health and wellbeing of Australian men. This year’s theme, “See Your GP”, is a powerful call to action — reminding men to prioritise their health by taking that first step: booking a check-up.
We believe that seeing your GP is the perfect check in to managing your physical, mental and social health. Our team are here to help you build your support team and community to help you move more, feel better, and live well.
Why Men’s Health Deserves Attention
Let’s talk facts:
-
Men die, on average, 6 years younger than women
-
1 in 2 men in Australia has a chronic health condition
-
Men are twice as likely to delay seeking care compared to women
-
1 in 8 men will experience depression, yet many go undiagnosed
-
The majority of preventable deaths in Australia are male
-
Only 1 in 3 Australian men meet the national physical activity guidelines
Movement Is Medicine — Especially When It's Shared
After your GP check-up, movement is often the next prescription. But for many men, the idea of “exercise” can feel overwhelming. That’s why we are committed to making it social, supportive, and specific to your needs.
Whether it’s walking with a mate, joining a group class, or rebuilding strength after illness, moving more isn’t just about fitness. It’s about:
-
Reducing risk of chronic disease
-
Improving mood, energy and mental resilience
-
Creating structure, accountability and connection
-
Preventing injuries and boosting independence
And here’s the key: Men are more likely to keep moving when they do it together. It’s why community-based programs and peer support matter so much in men’s health.
It All Starts with One Appointment
Whether it’s been 12 months or 12 years since your last check-up, Men’s Health Week is the time to Book that GP appointment and ask for a check-up. Have a conversation about your health. Get referred to the right support services — perhaps that’s exercise physiology — and take the first step toward feeling better.
See Your GP. Get Moving. Stay Connected. Live Well.
